  • Chardhunge , Sidhartha Sagar Shrestha (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
Actually the name Chardhunge means four Stones, but the name Chardhunge is Nepali version of "Penga Tha". The name of this place is Penga tha, which sounds newari words. Penga means four and tha means pillars. Four stone pillirs are found there at the cornor of the cross road, burried into the ground, only the head of stone can be seen. It is believed that those stone pillars were located at the centre of the cross road. During the development of city and road developmenmt those stones were shifted to the corner. A religious tank with a hole at the road surface is also linked with those stone pillars which is believed to be the presentation of Bhairab.
