Generally the staff and restaurant services were first rate, deserving of the 4 star rating the hotel has. However, with regard to my treatment by the front office staff, I regret to say that the rating the hotel enjoys is certainly not deserved. On the evening of the second day of my eight day stay a leak developed in the bathroom completely covering the toilet, mirror and self. I reported this immediately to the housekeeping staff who quickly alerted the maintenance department. This was on Thursday 6th January. The housekeeping staff quickly cleaned up the mess, and the maintenance or housekeeping supervisor assured me that the leak would be fixed as quickly as possible. I regret now that I did not note the names of the staff on that evening. If this is where the problem ended, I would have had no complaint. Unfortunately, it did not end here. The next day the leak returned much worse than before. On this occasion, I called the front desk, and staff again came in and cleaned up the mess. This time it was all over the toilet, part of the bath and the mirror and shelf. To use the toilet we needed first to clean it. Then we would have very dirty water splashing on us while using the toilet. On the Saturday I was extremely ill, and not in any shape to talk with staff about the leak. We avoided using the bathroom as it was so dirty and messy with the leak. The only reason I left the room to have breakfast. The water coming in was brown in colour with an unpleasant smell. I had put my faith in the staff informing the senior management of the situation in our room and for appropriate action to be taken. Please keep in mind that I had informed the housekeeping staff, who informed the maintenance department, and I had called the front desk. On the Sunday morning I had had enough and went to the front desk and asked either for the problem to be fixed or for my room to be changed. The room was changed. This should have been the end of it. The first night in the room I was awakened by a rodent (a mouse I hope) chewing on a biscuit pack left on the desk. Again I informed the housekeeping staff who promptly dealt with the problem. The room I had been given was facing a public walkway, which meant we could not open the curtains to allow the natural light in to the room. To add to the issues, it was a twin room despite us specifically requesting a double bed room at check in. So, to sum up, I was allowed to remain in a deluxe or superior room with a bathroom that could not be used for three days, and then moved to a rodent infested room, where no natural light was available without allowing passersby to look into our room. Not very good for a 4 or 5 star hotel. And what form of compensation was offered…..20% off the food and beverage bill, not even Rps 2,000. The staff also claimed they new nothing about the problems. Obviously your hotel does not have an internal reporting system to bring these issues to the attention of management.
